Why home networks give different answers than cloud monitors

A request from a home connection travels a different path than one from a cloud server: consumer ISP routing and peering, national infrastructure, the ISP's DNS resolvers, sometimes throttling or geo-blocks. A website can be perfectly healthy for a server in a datacenter and unreachable for a household two countries away. Checking from where people actually live is the only way to see the web as your visitors see it.

Where the nodes are

The network measures from homes across four continents — from Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom to Brazil, the United States, India and Vietnam — and it grows as new operators plug in a $5 board. The network is open: anyone can run a node.

Beyond checks: the ISP Quality Observatory

The same fleet also measures its own home connections around the clock — latency, jitter and packet loss to well-known anchors, with each home's Wi-Fi hop subtracted so the score reflects the provider, not somebody's router. Aggregated daily per provider, this becomes the ISP Quality rankings: which internet provider is actually the best in a country, judged by real homes instead of a one-off speedtest. Privacy and politeness

Checks are single, browser-like HTTP requests — no scanning, no crawling, no load testing. Node locations are shown at city level only. Continuous monitoring with alerts (email, webhooks, status pages) is available as a free account.
